Hi All,
Its my first time skiing and snowboarding.
I am going to camel back mountain in Poconos.
I have found a lot of helping information on yahoo answers about apparel in general, but I could not find information on padding…
Could you suggest [maybe provide links] on what kind of padding I can buy. I am mainly concerned about my lower back and want to guard it.
If you could suggest something I can readily find [beacuse I am at 5 PM EST] it would be great.
The only thing I have found is "Under Armour Agile Slider Short Mens" and "Champro Slotted Football Pants"
I am unable to find if either of these protect lower back.
Also do you think they would hinder my maneuverability.
Thanks for the answers. What I failed to mention is that, I have some undiagnosed back problems.
Have fallen on ice pretty much every winter for the past 5 years =/ Tough luck, I know.
Still no padding then?
You don’t need any more padding than normal. Just don’t try to take a double diamond hill on your first go. Take it slow and easy on the small stuff. Once you’re comfortable staying upright for the entire small hill like a little bunny run, then move up to the big stuff. Also, don’t try any jumps until you’re comfortable. You can break stuff doing jumps if you’re not ready yet.

how can i make it better?
still no one is telling me stuff to get only that i have beginner stuff… I KNOW I HAVE GOOD BEGINNER STUFF AND I WANT TO UPGRADE!!!
Your gear is totally Beginner, thats true. I used to have stuff like that in the beginning. Here is what I ride right now.
Lib-Tech travis rice board. LT is the best brand period. Their magnetraction and banana camber tech is the best. Read any review and you will know.
Burton cartel bindings. I love these. Any burton capstrap model higher than a cartel will work. The Co2s are really nice and lightweight too.
Burton Ruler boots. Boots are a very personal choice. I tried some 32’s and even the $300 burton Ions, but nothing fits the shape of my feet and calves as good as the rulers. So on boots you are on your own.
Check out some volcom, special blend or Foursquare pants and jackets.
Remember, wide stance and loose clothing.
I agree with the other guy. Loose the backpack, do you carry ur homework on the mountain?

i would get some socks with some shin padding if ur skiing cus it might hurt the first time w/ the boots
wear a helmet
if its your first time its pretty much impossible to get hurt unless you get hit by a chairlift or something- that always sucks

I need help with FINDING (new please)
Boots mens size 10 $1.00-$50.00
Gloves large $1.00-$30.00
Jackets and pants size medium or large im 15 5”7 120lbs you decide on that(no price range)
PLEASE HELP AT ALL I WILL SEND YOU GOOD FEEDBACK
Plenty of good selections at the following sites a few of them have some really good sales going to… but getting boots for under 50 bucks probably isn’t going to happen unless they’re used or just super cheap and in that case they will probably be uncomfortable.

I’m interested in buyin a cheap pair of snowboarding pants made by Marker.
My question is, are they poofy? What does "gillet insulation" mean?
Here’s the link:

Thanks so much!
