whats the best to wear snow boarding if you don’t have snowboarding clothes?

Posted: October 13th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Clothes | 23 Comments »

1) bottoms: nylon pants, like wind pants or work out pants. Something slick so the snow won’t stick. Then wear long underwear under, adjust for the warmth you need.
2) top: layers! outside layer should be slippery so the snow won’t stick. It is unbelievable how much you can sweat when you first learn to snowboard. Lots of work until you learn what you are doing and can get into the groove. You probably won’t need as much warm stuff as you think. But, if you are riding a lift, you have to be prepared for the waiting and the cold wind.
3) helmet. Yes, yes, it is a must. I have slammed myself, and have watched others slam themselves down when they are first learning. It will save you, you won’t regret it.
4) gloves- the warmer the better
5) scarf (short one) or better a neck gator/fur. You will want something to pull up around your face and nose when the wind blows or you are on the lift
6) eye protection – from the sun or the wind, or blowing snow – goggles – I found mine for about $15 – covers what teh neck gator won’t
Some of this depends on whether you are riding down the slopes or hanging in the park and pipe. Good luck, just do it, take a break if you get cold and when you get tired. Your legs will get a workout!! Check out the clearance items in a few weeks on www.mysimon.com and www.campmor.com :-)
