whats the best ever brand for Snowboarding Jackets? orrrr…. what do you use

I use 686, Burton, Sessions, and Oakley (Yes, they started making Jackets too!) But I would check out proboardshop.com they have massive sales during the summertime in the US and I think better selection than the-house.com. And they categorize the jackets by brand so its easy to find one you want.

What is a good snowboarding jacket brand to buy-that won’t "break the bank!"?

Posted: November 17th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Jackets | 4 Comments »

I am looking to buy a snowboarding jacket for my boyfriend for christmas. What is a good brand that won’t break the bank? We live in MN

I would suggest looking on a couple of web sites that carry high quality outdoor jackets at discount and discontinued prices. Try:

http://www.mountaingear.com/
http://www.sierratradingpost.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?allWords=men%20jacket%20snowboard&searchDescriptions=True

I see a Burton for $100 and some Columbia and Northface for half the original price. That shouldn’t break the bank.

Good Luck

Is there a difference between ladies ski jackets and ladies snowboard jackets?

Posted: November 12th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Jackets | 6 Comments »

I’m trying to find out which I should buy for downhill skiing as I am a beginner skier. Ladies ski jacket or snowboard jacket? There seems to be more snowboard than ski styles. But the snowboard jackets look baggier. will this affect skiing?

You pretty much had it right in your own question. Ladies’ ski and snowboard jackets will function more-or-less the same, except for stylistic differences that has more to do with what’s fashionable for a given clique. However, high-performance ski jackets tend to be not-quite-as-long in the front so that you can really bend your knees (up into your chest) into a deep compression without wadding up a lot of fabric/stuff. Unfortunately, many skiers don’t bend their knees enough anyways (remember hearing ski instructors yelling at students to "bend your knees"?) so its kind of something that matters less than it should.

Are these snowboarding jackets good?

Posted: November 8th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Jackets | 4 Comments »

I was looking at some jackets online and I need to know if they are any good. I dont want be wet or cold when I am snowboarding!;) The ones I looked at are Maven and Royale.. PLEASE help! heres the link: http://www.686.com/2007/#/Womens/?cat_id=80&product_id=469

686 makes good gear, I actually use the 686 smarty uzi pants, Great pair of pants. The general guidline to keeping warm and not wet is to stay above 10k waterproofing and breathability, Both of your choices are at 15k waterproofing and 10k breathability, they would make great jackets.
