What clothing do I need for a snowboarding trip?

Posted: November 25th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Clothes | 4 Comments »

I’ll be snowboarding for the first time for 4 days/3 nights. It is 28 degrees where I’m going right now and my body has never been in anything under 40 degrees. I’m not sure the types of clothes I should buy or how much of it to buy. I want to be as comfortable/warm as possible without spending more money than I need to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m a guy, if it matters.

Thanks in advance.

You dont have to buy those like $200+ big jackets, basically just wear some a not too thick snow jacket, a toque (beanie/wool hat) would be nice since it prevents snow falling on your head and keeps you warm. Gloves of any sort basically, try to find thick and waterproof ones i guess, since your hands do pretty much turn into icicles. For your legs, I would say not to wear jeans, it doesn’t keep you warm, and if you’re planning on playing a little bit with snow, then it’s very uncomfortable to be in wet clothing, so get some waterproof snow pants, or some thick pants if you’re just taking a walk in the park. Shoes…you should probably have that settled? Just regular snow board boots. Thick snowboarding socks would really help as well. By the way, if you’re planning to wear a snow jacket, if you’re easily frozen, then you can always wear a hoodie underneath (dont buy jackets too fit/small), although people normally just wear a t-shirt or a long sleeved shirt underneath. Alrightt, Have a fun winter trip! ; )

it’s not as difficult to stay warm as the high priced brand sellers want you to believe. The main advice to give is to wear LAYERS so that you can remove or put on things as you wish. You want multiple long sleaved shirts and jackets under your water proof coat(which doesn’t have to be too expensive). and a couple of pairs of sweat pants under water proof pants(NO JEANS). also, goggles a good hat and a scarf or something else to go over your face.(you don’t want to get burns from the cold air, make sure your face is covered)

Really you dont have to spend soo much on the gear you wear.

I just wear layers of tee shirts and a waterproof jacket, it works for me and for the leggings i wear jeans and over it is ski pants which is waterproof.

you would want waterproof equipment, youll get wet, trust me!

I only spent like 35$ on my stuff

usually i just wear sweatpants with waterproof snow pants on top, a tee and a sweatshirt with a waterproof snow jacket, waterproof gloves, a beanie and goggles to keep the snow out of my eyes. if anything i listed is something you definitely want to have, i’d say it’s the gloves, otherwise your hands will freeze since it’s your first time and you will be falling a lot. everyone does. goggles you don’t need as much, but they are nice.
