whats the best to wear snow boarding if you don’t have snowboarding clothes?

Posted: October 13th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Clothes | 23 Comments »

1) bottoms: nylon pants, like wind pants or work out pants. Something slick so the snow won’t stick. Then wear long underwear under, adjust for the warmth you need.
2) top: layers! outside layer should be slippery so the snow won’t stick. It is unbelievable how much you can sweat when you first learn to snowboard. Lots of work until you learn what you are doing and can get into the groove. You probably won’t need as much warm stuff as you think. But, if you are riding a lift, you have to be prepared for the waiting and the cold wind.
3) helmet. Yes, yes, it is a must. I have slammed myself, and have watched others slam themselves down when they are first learning. It will save you, you won’t regret it.
4) gloves- the warmer the better
5) scarf (short one) or better a neck gator/fur. You will want something to pull up around your face and nose when the wind blows or you are on the lift
6) eye protection – from the sun or the wind, or blowing snow – goggles – I found mine for about $15 – covers what teh neck gator won’t
Some of this depends on whether you are riding down the slopes or hanging in the park and pipe. Good luck, just do it, take a break if you get cold and when you get tired. Your legs will get a workout!! Check out the clearance items in a few weeks on www.mysimon.com and www.campmor.com :-)

I would spend the money to get snowboarding clothes its worth it. If you go out their unprepared your going to freeze your tail off. But if you dont take my advice where something water proof.

Dress in layers. Cotton or something that wicks the sweat away from your body, near the skin and then wool, if possible.

    Depends on the weather…

If it’s cold, stick to lots of layers… Buy some long underwear and use with a good pair of jeans (or coveralls).

snow pants, winter jacket and gloves you can move your hands in. don’t wear a scarf if its not too cold, it just gets in your way and is annoying. also, you don’t need to wear a hat if you are wearing a helmet, but if you aren’t a hat would be fine. and if you don’t have snow pants, any wet protected clothes. like jeans would be bad cause if you are a beginner at snowboarding, you’ll mostly likely fall alot on your knees and the jeans hurt it. also, jeans get wet and uncomfortable! hope i helped!

couple layers of socks, or one thin pair and a nice thick pair ontop. Long johns, sweats and track type pants, long sleved thearmal shirt, t-shirt and hoddie with a water resistant type coat.

Waterproof gloves with a pair of fitted gloves under.

(pretty much what you might wear sledding)

If you have any thermal shirts, layer them up!

    Then definitely thick hoodies.

A regular winter coat over that.

A couple pairs of sweatpants for your legs, but it would definitely be better if you have something waterproof like ski pants, but if you don’t have them, just make sure you have plenty of extra pants to change into if you get wet.

Long socks…a couple pairs of them.

Basically, just layer a lot of long sleeved shirts, throw a hoodie or two over that, plus a winter coat.

Same thing with pants, but like I said, it’s best to have waterproof clothes on the outside, or at least a lot of extra clothes to change into.

If you don’t have good gear for the elements (snow, cold, etc.) I would suggest going in the spring. Otherwise you will get so wet and cold you will be miserable.

If you do go in the cold without the right gear, make sure you bring a change of clothes.

    You could rent or buy
    but you dont have to
If you are a skiier you could just wear that
But if it is tour first time on the slopes I would recomend something water/weather proof and warm
    XP
    GOOD LUCK on the slopes;)
Hope you dont get cold or wet

Definately wear layers! A Synhetic material closest to your body, then a Hoodie and Sweat Pants for insulation, and Finnaly a waterproof pair of pants and jacket.

Layering is the most important aspect of deciding what to wear.
