Is there a difference between ladies ski jackets and ladies snowboard jackets?

Posted: November 12th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Snowboarding Jackets | 6 Comments »

I’m trying to find out which I should buy for downhill skiing as I am a beginner skier. Ladies ski jacket or snowboard jacket? There seems to be more snowboard than ski styles. But the snowboard jackets look baggier. will this affect skiing?

You pretty much had it right in your own question. Ladies’ ski and snowboard jackets will function more-or-less the same, except for stylistic differences that has more to do with what’s fashionable for a given clique. However, high-performance ski jackets tend to be not-quite-as-long in the front so that you can really bend your knees (up into your chest) into a deep compression without wadding up a lot of fabric/stuff. Unfortunately, many skiers don’t bend their knees enough anyways (remember hearing ski instructors yelling at students to "bend your knees"?) so its kind of something that matters less than it should.

The patterns would be different to allow for the different movement required for skiing or snowboarding.

YES.. Ski jackets are nice in my opinion. Snowboarders jackets are usually very punky. Ski jackets are a little hit of everything!!!
